The UK has made its decision and reversed its opposition to fall in line with the tough EU recycling targets to reduce landfill by 10% and increase the urban recycling by 60%, 2 thirds by 2035, however they have now realised that it will not hit the recycling target of 50% by 2020, as the push for recycling has stalled.
The recycling of plastics is going to be an active topic this year, as we landfill over 7 billion bottles which are not recycled but landfilled, in just one year. As you might imagine this is damaging to the environment as the plastic are not only harmful to the wildlife but the land no longer fit for any purpose for many years due to the duration it takes for the plastics to degrade.
With China now closing the door on certain products we now must be even more conscious of how we recycle and stop the landfill. Paper is a commodity where most of us can help, be it at home or in the office.
Simply add you waste post/documents to one of our bags
If you don’t dispose of your paper correctly it is likely to end up in a landfill site. Disposed of correctly it will be recycled into another product, helping the environment by saving trees and reducing the carbon footprint. It also creates jobs in the recycling plants. Some paper can be recycled up to 20 times if you dispose of it correctly.
Segregate your paper products into a separate sack and make sure it goes to a paper recycling plant. Don’t shred your paper and place it in your recycling bin. When your bin is emptied at the refuse site, the paper is hard to sort. It can cause problems to the machinery and it is not fully recycled.
